Defensible Space Program

Do you live within the Chiloquin Fire District? Is your home protected from a potential wildfire? Do you or a loved one need help with making your home fire safe? Chiloquin Fire and Rescue in partnership with Klamath Watershed and through acquired grants have created a program to help with removing yard debris and/or working with contractors to create a defensible space to help protect your home in case of a wildfire.

What does that mean?

When conditions are right, a home could have a high risk of catching fire due to the vegetation and debris located close to the home. Creating a defensible space can help you or your loved one prepare for a wildfire. Defensible space is a buffer you create between your home and the grass, trees, shrubs, duff, or any other potential hazards that closely surrounds it. Having the proper defensible space can slow and/or potentially stop the spread of fire and/or embers from catching the home on fire.

If you have questions about the program, please feel free to contact our fuels mitigation specialist for information and a free assessment/prescription of your home. Scan the QR code to fill out an application for an assessment.

Dump Trailer Program

If you are just needing a means to be able to clean your own property, than let us help you by providing a trailer. We will bring a trailer by and leave it there for you to fill. Once you are done, then we will come back and take it away free of charge.

Contracted Services Program

If you want to have your property cleaned up but can’t physically do it, allow us to help you find someone who can. We have a list of contractors who will be willing to come out and clean your property.
