FireMed Ambulance Membership

Chiloquin Fire and Rescue not only responds to fires but also responds to  9-1-1 emergency medical and ambulance transportation calls within Chiloquin area. In Fact, majority of the calls Chiloquin responds to are emergency medical calls. In 2023, Chiloquin responded to about 1100 emergency and non-emergency calls. 

With that being said, using an ambulance in a very expensive medical procedure. Although most people’s insurance will cover a portion of the costs associated with the ambulance transportation bill, frequently the entire bill is not covered. Members of a household can help protect themselves from a high ambulance bill when they need an emergency medical transport by using a program called FireMed. Chiloquin Fire and Rescue, offers this program for people who live in Chiloquin and its responding areas.  FireMed will protect an individual from having any out-of-pocket expense if they or a member of their household needs an emergency ambulance. FireMed will bill your insurance and accepts what the insurance pays as payment in full, thus you will never get a bill for an emergency ambulance call. 

Our FireMed program costs $99 a year and covers everyone living in the household. Chiloquin Fire & Rescue will simply bill your insurance, because FireMed is not an insurance, the insurance company will submit your payment and Chiloquin Fire and Rescue will accept that payment in full. 

In the event that a ground ambulance is not enough to treat the emergency, Chiloquin Fire and Rescue also provides another option to have financial coverage. Some emergency situations need to involve air transport due to the nature of the emergency and safety of the patient. When that happens, AirMedCare's network helicopter is requested to come and transport that individual to the closest appropriate medical facility. In Rural Oregon, this option is one of the best ways to ensure the individual receives the best care possible. 

However, the cost of using an air ambulance is very expensive. Like FireMed, AirMedCare will help protect an individual from having out-of-pocket expenses if they or a member of their household needs this type of service.
